you tube video reflection the cell

26 Mar

Okay hi people I’m back with another reflection so here it goes. Well today again I am going to summarize another one of Mr. Matthew’s you tube videos this time it the one on cells. It was basically composed to help students those who enrolled at a university and are doing year one biochem.

The person who discovered and described the fundamental unit of all living things which is the CELL was Robert Hooke. The cell is defined as the smallest unit that is capable of performing life functions which are growth, metabolism, stimulus response and replication.

The main topics covered in the video were factors that affect cell size, comparing eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells, comparing plant and animal cells, structure and function of some organelles which were nucleus, ER, ribosomes, golgi complex, lysosomes, mitochondria, chloroplasts, cytoskeleton and proteasome.

The most amazing thing for me that I have learnt from this video was the cell size it was stated in the video that a cell is able to be small but it is limited by the fact that the amount of DNA needed to make enzymes necessary to catalyze biochemical reactions that makes “living” possible and that statement should be self explanatory. The part was the biggest a cell could get and it is not that big because as size increases volume increases much more rapidly and this causes a longer rate of diffusion and this limits the cell size reasons are because the cell would either be starved or poisoned.

If you all need help with the cell I would recommend looking at the video this is the link, watch?v=Y9c0VvUbmVQ&feature=youtu.be

In conclusion, I would say that the video helped me to better understand cells in detail especially the different types of organelles and their functions and the only correction I would make to video would be better pictures when comparing the prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells other than that is was a lovely video and I enjoyed looking at it and learning from it. So that is all from me for now see you guys soon bye!
